| Addition Details: | Velis has a scar running down the left side of his face, cutting through his left eye. He often keeps this eye covered at all times, but can be seen with the patch off around those he is close to. Velis also has a scar running across his abdomen and a burn scar on his left side, starting at his waist and ending on his chest while also wrapping around his back. Velis can also seem to be fighting an internal conflict in his own mind at times. Certain things like pausing during mid conversation or sudden headaches are surefire signs of him trying to suppress or make sense of the voices in his head. Most would call him crazy if he opened up about these, but he knows for a fact that these voices have a source, and that source is not him. |
About the Knight,
The Guard, & the Lion
Born and raised in the Royal City of Rabanastre, Velis Azelas is a Loyalist Dalmasca and Liason for the Dalmascan Rebellion. Velis spent most of his early childhood as a street urchin. He was constantly finding himself in fights with the Occupying Garlean Imperial Forces, many of which would see the young Dalmascan beaten and battered.Life had proven to be unkind to the young man. Food was hard to get without the needed gil, and stealing would only work so often. However this did not stop Velis, for he had not only himself, but his sister to fend for.As the two aged, Velis would do his best to find a home for his sister despite knowing that in doing so, he may never see her again and unfortunately for him, that would end up being the case.Velis would find himself alone in the coming years, his sister having found a new home. This would prove to be a pivotal point in his life for unbeknown to him, Velis had been watched from the shadows.The young Dalmascan would be approached by a former Captain of the Royal Guard. A faction long thought wiped out after the fall of Dalmasca. With this Captain, Velis would learn to fight, and to know what it truly meant to be a Dalmascan. From there, his story becomes one of fighting for survival, to surviving to fight.Some Years later, Dalmasca would try for a Rebellion in line with their sister country, Ala Mhigo. Fight as Velis might, him and the rebellion were pushed out of Dalmasca, many moving away and some staying underground. Velis was injured in the retreat, but would later return during the Second Rebellion along side Bozja. Velis would see fighting on both fronts, acting as a mercenary.Victory would come next, and along side it, Peace. Now Velis spends his time working for the highest bidder. His One Rule: No Jobs Against Dalmasca or It's People.

The Lion's Guard is a Dalmascan Loyalist faction lead by Velis Azelas. It is comprised of what is left of the former military and guard factions of Dalmasca and Rabanastre; mostly only those still wanting to serve their Queen and Royal Family. The Lion's Guard remains in close contact with Lente's Tears and is often sent out as a scout group or "clean up" group. The Lion's Guard served on both the Bozjan and Dalmascan front lines during the final rebellions versus the Garlean Empire. As of the time of peace, the Lion's Guard is mostly dissolved, but a select few hold onto their cult like belief's. . .Velis included.
Theja, The Caller
Friend, Former Lover
Velis was saved by Theja during the Dalmascan Rebellion after he suffered a mortal wound that should have killed him. However due to Theja's quick thinking and skills with patching up wounds that she had learned during her time tending to her younger brother, Theja was able to save Velis, allowing him to see another day...and more importantly, get revenge against the Garleans.
Bazj, Of The Heavenly Lightning
Rival, Former Enemy
A Traditional Male Viera, Warden, and Brother of Theja, and the most dangerous foe Velis has ever faced. To say that Velis is scared of Bazj would be an injustice to The Lion of Dalmasca. To say he is cautious around Bazj is more accurate, for Bazj is the only foe that Velis has faced that made The Lion think twice about the fight he found himself in. Now the two share a reluctant alliance due to Theja, but both are constantly on edge when near one another.There is no foe that Velis has more respect for than that of Bazj.

Very few people that Velis knows on a personal level carry as much power as the Lavender Lady. While her personal strength is nothing to scoff at, it is her immense political and Underworld power that sets her above the rest. As a mercenary, Velis has met and made contacts from every way of life, but Lunae was one that became a confidant and one Velis keeps finding himself returning to when in need.

To change ones whole life so drastically with little to no culture shock is not realistic. Velis is currently dealing with Culture Shock of his own, causing him to be defensive and even violent.
